Tahmineh Milani (1960)
A graduate in Architecture, she began her career in 1980, in the production house “Kargah Azad Film”, as a script researcher. In 1982, she became AD and coordinating director of the still shelved movie of “Red Line”, and also she workd with the editor Abbas Ganjavi, in the same project director of 11 feature films, writer of 14 screenplays, and also, producer of some feature films. Winner of awards from festivals of Fajr, Heydarabad, L.A., Cairo, Gene Sisskel (Chicago),Asia – Pacific, Film Arpa (U.S.).
Women problems are her main concerns, and in all her pictures a feminine look is in evidence. In her recent films – Two Women and Hidden Half – she has shown interest to political issues. Although a self – didactic. Filmmaker, she has shown her craft and gift. She has always insisted on making movies to draw audience, and at the same time, to bring up a message. Believing she is showing social pains, Milani tries to awaken her audience, by slapping them. She do not care for the critics. Polls and opinions, because most of them are men, and therefore, all the Iranian film critics review her reflections, instead the product of her thoughts. She won’t permit anybody to think instead her, or impose his/hers opinion. She explains that consuming dates all her movies do have as a characteristic. She has no insistence on making films that will last in memories, although, all her films are still known interesting, by the general audience.
